Go Tell It on the Mountain and Joy to the World are two beloved Christmas hymns that capture the joy and hope of the season.
Go Tell It on the Mountain originated as an African American spiritual, later popularized by John Wesley Work Jr. Its uplifting lyrics call believers to proclaim the birth of Jesus Christ, celebrating the Good News to all. With its soulful melody and powerful message, the song invites listeners to reflect on the humility of Christ’s birth and the global significance of His coming.
Joy to the World, written by Isaac Watts in 1719 and set to music by Lowell Mason, is one of the most sung hymns during Christmas. Based on Psalm 98, it rejoices in God’s sovereignty and the fulfillment of His promises. The hymn’s triumphant tone reminds us of Christ’s role as King and Savior, inspiring faith and gratitude during the holiday season.
